Millahcayotl is a non-profit association1 dedicated to the promotion of small-scale, decentralized, plant-based food systems.

Mīllahcayōtl, a Nahuatl word, is often translated as agriculture, but its true meaning is more complex. A milpa, the root of this word, is an ancient form of Native American agriculture that integrates the communities food staples into one sustainable system. Mīllahcayōtl can be interpreted as the "way of the milpa", symbolizing the harmony and completeness inherent to the milpa, its independence from domestic animals, and a nurturing relationship between communities and the land they live on.
